NYFW Recap
Believe it or not, fashion week is an important and popular topic of conversation among us bloggers as well as everyone in the fashion industry. The main question always seems to be, "love it or hate it"? As this was my first time attending, I had been hearing a lot more about how much most don't enjoy fashion month! I began questioning it myself and decided to take a chance and go to New York to find out for myself.
I've always been fascinated by the fashion industry. Maybe it's because my mom and aunts loved to dress me up when I was younger. Or maybe it was that I used to borrow my Grandmother's fabulous pieces and dress myself since I was four. There has always been something that has drawn me to the fun part of styling and design.
My first ever experience with a fashion show was when I was in school at FIDM and volunteered to be backstage for Kevan Hall. My heart skipped a beat and I truly felt anxious when the lights dimmed down for the show to start. This month marks my first year attending fashion week and it quickly flew by. I dreamed about participating and it was an honor to be invited. Now you may be wondering what the verdict is and to answer your question, I loved it! It is such a tremendous production and there is so much work that goes into creating a show. Designers and publicists and many more spend months trying to reveal a collection that is shown in less than an hour and I truly respect and admire it!
This trip was very special for me because I kicked off my trip with Mara Hoffman but ended it with Elie Tahari. Of course, there were many other beautiful presentations in between but I was immediately blown away by the amount of lace, fresh florals, and safari colors that were shown. I was invited to cover Elie Tahari's presentation in addition to wearing his newest Fall pieces.
There were crows formed outside each show. Streetstyle photographers flooded the sidewalks. Every hour, an incredible designer displayed their Spring 2016 collection. From many events to connecting with industry specialists, I felt like I was in a dream.
